“We’re very excited to finally start construction work on the Kitchen,” said Aaron Gerlach, Rector of Old Trinity Episcopal Church. “This project has received so much support from our community since we announced it three years ago, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone into this beautiful new space.”
Seneca County Common Ground, the local nonprofit partnering with Old Trinity to operate the kitchen, plans to utilize it as a hub for locally produced and prepared foods. Through classes for the public, training opportunities for individuals interested in careers in commercial kitchens, and as a space for small commercial operations to prepare their product, the $2.8 million project will serve as a foundational location for all things edible in Seneca County.
“It’s great to see this project come to fruition in the heart of Downtown Tiffin,” said Tiffin Mayor Dawn Iannantuono. “Old Trinity has been working diligently to get the Community Kitchen across the finish line, and this groundbreaking is a significant milestone for both them and our community.”
Clouse Construction will be the general contractor for the construction of the kitchen. Members of the public are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony on October 20, at 3:00 PM to celebrate this milestone. The Kitchen is being built directly behind Old Trinity Episcopal Church and located at 90 Jefferson Street, Tiffin, Ohio, 44883.
